My own design

Bibs - mosaic

I know it’s not much, but it’s the first thing I have made completely on my own – without using a pattern or looking to other people’s creations. I’m not quite sure which kind of bib I prefer – i.e. oil cloth bibs, pocket bibs, or ordinary bibs like these (they are not pocket bibs even if they may look like it) – but I am happy with them, and anyway, you should probably use different bibs for different types of meals. E.g. for soup, an oilcloth bib probably wouldn’t be of much use. It would be great if these were just a little more absorbant, but I’m hoping they will be once they have been washed a few times.

Now we’re going to try these out for a while – and see if adjustments are necessary before I make some more.

Congratulations Astrid on making such a cute pattern. Your sewing looks perfect as always. I loved making bibs for my son in all different sizes. I used to make them so long that they would reach his knees. Believe it or not, they were perfect for protecting his clothes. Did you use a binder attachment for the binding? I always had some difficulty with the binding not looking as good as I wanted it to. Your binding looks perfect.

These looks so good, and the colors really make them special. I like the pocket bibs for my messy one, but they are not fun to clean.
My mom still has our bibs when we were kids, they were essentially dish towels with ties for the neck and back, and they covered our laps.
    Nice job!

Jeannine – thank you! I think I will make really long ones as well, but that’ll be for the time when she is eating on her own – not being fed. I didn’t use a binder attachment – just sewed it on. I think if the curves are soft enough it doesn’t cause too much trouble. 😉

    Celia – thanks! 🙂

Tak! 😉

Teri – thank you so much! 🙂

iinu – Thank you! 😉 I like my labels as well, even though I think next time, I will have them made with slightly more contrast in the colours.

Tara – thank you, that’s really sweet of you! 😉

    Lisa – thank you! 🙂

Lisa – Thanks! 😉 I find that the pleasure lies in the use – that’s where the stuff you make really come into their own!

    Sara – thank you! 🙂

Melanie – you’re right about the pocket bibs and the cleaning – and those long bibs work wonders on keeping the clothes clean a bit longer. I may make some like that as well… Thanks! 🙂

Astrid, your bibs put mine to shame! They are so pretty. Clark is the world’s messiest eater and should really just have a giant sheet wrapped around him at mealtimes.

    Adorable! Really cute!
And funny you should phrase it like that, because I think the same thing about my stuff. I never completely come up with something just off the top of my head. I usually have a picture or pattern or some sort of idea to inspire me.
    you did a great job!!

De er godt nok fede. Helt i orden farver.
