Iris

When I came home with the girls this afternoon, it was windy, but still very nice weather. It may not have been quite warm enough for Ronja’s new summer dress, but she really wanted to try it on, and I didn’t put up much of a fight.

It’s getting more difficult to take good pictures of her. I don’t mean that she’s growing to be less beautiful, but she’s becoming increasingly conscious, meaning that the second I get out the camera, she starts to pose. Now, I may be difficult that way, but I don’t want children to be posing in pictures. I’d much rather get a shot of our girls quietly (or loudly – I did say our girls) playing by themselves, totally consumed in whatever role they’re into at the time. The nature of modeled shots definitely makes this challenging, but with Ronja’s present conscious modeling-mode, that’s just plain impossible. She makes funny movements with arms and legs, that are supposed to resemble a cross between what she has seen in magazines and the neverending grace of the princesses of “Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses”. Ehhmmm – hopefully that’ll all get better with age. ;)

I like this one, though – and there she is wearing her new sunflower dress.

Behind the leaves

There’s nothing pink about it – and she loves it all the same! There’s another one here where it’s a bit easier to actually see the dress.

What a lovely photo and what a great dress. I discovered your site about a week ago and I am so impressed with your sewing. Did you really only start sewing just a couple of years ago?

I learnt at school but in the twenty years since then I haven’t been near a sewing machine. Now I have a young daughter and would love to make her clothes. Your site is really inspiring me to have a go.

The Sunfloweer dress is beautiful – as is your model! I agree that children get harder to photograph as they get older – even worse as teenagers!!

    kram

    Hi Astrid,
What a lovely dress you made. I really like your fabricchoice. So subtle and yet outspoken.
    Greetings, Ria

Tak for billederne.

SUK.

Isn’t she just gorgeous in the pretty not pink dress!

Haven’t stopped by in a while Astrid. I don’t know why but Bloglines doesn’t seem to be updating your feeds for me!

All of you – just want to say, that all of your comments put a smile on my face! I feel so lucky to have all of you wonderful readers – THANK YOU! :)

Rohaise – thank you so much! I did start a little less than a year and a half ago, and I have learned that if you follow the instructions, use your common sense, take it slow, and remember to iron (!), it really isn’t that hard. You should definitely make clothes for your daughter, it is wonderfully satisfactory and fun! By the way, my history is the same – haven’t sewn since school. :)

Lisa – thank you, girl! ;)

loviesformybabies – thank you so much, that is really sweet of you! I’ll get back to that!

    Ria – thank you! :)

Tak! ;)

Yvonne – I hope the feed will start working for you, but I’m glad you stopped by! Thanks! :)
